Privacy Policy

How Monkay handles personal information when you visit our website or work with us.

Last updated: 20 September 2026

1. Who handles your information

Monkay, a web design and development business based in South Africa, is responsible for the personal information we collect for our own enquiries, customer relationships and business administration. Contact info@monkay.co for privacy questions or requests.

Where we host or work on a client website, the client is responsible for its own visitors’ information and privacy notice. Our handling of that information on the client’s behalf is governed by the relevant service agreement and instructions.

2. Information we receive

  • Enquiries: your name, email address, company name if provided, and the message or project details you send us.
  • Customer and project records: contact and billing details, quotes, invoices, correspondence, website content and access information needed to carry out agreed work.
  • Website usage and technical information: pages visited, referring websites, browser and device information, approximate location and technical or security logs generated by our hosting services.
  • Payment records: transaction references, payment status and subscription details supplied by the relevant billing provider. Card details entered into a third-party checkout are handled by that provider.

Our website enquiry form sends the details you provide directly to info@monkay.co so we can respond. Please do not send passwords or payment card details in an enquiry.

3. How we use information

We use information to answer enquiries, prepare quotes, deliver and support websites and hosting, manage billing, keep business records, improve our website and protect our services against abuse.

Depending on the activity and applicable law, we process information to take steps you request before a contract, perform our agreement, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate business interests such as security and service improvement, or with your consent where required. You can withdraw consent for consent-based processing by contacting us.

4. Service providers and sharing

We share information where needed with providers supporting our hosting, email, business records and billing, and with professional advisers or authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

This website uses Vercel for hosting and Vercel Web Analytics for website usage measurement. Web Analytics uses cookie-free measurement; see Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation.

If you pay through Paddle, Paddle handles the transaction as merchant of record and processes buyer information under its own Privacy Policy. That policy describes its payment, tax, fraud-prevention and related processing. Links to external services, including social media, are governed by those services’ own policies.

5. Cookies and account access

The public marketing website’s analytics does not use analytics cookies. Restricted sign-in areas may use authentication cookies or similar storage to keep authorised users signed in and protect sessions. External checkout and other linked services may use their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser, although disabling essential cookies can affect sign-in functionality.

6. Storage, security and international processing

We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes described here, including the duration of a customer relationship and any applicable accounting, legal or dispute-resolution requirements. Retention depends on the type of record and why it is needed.

Our service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where applicable, transfers must be supported by appropriate contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer basis. We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no online system is completely secure.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, object to or request restriction of processing, withdraw consent, or request a portable copy of information. Some records may need to be retained for legal reasons. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Email info@monkay.co to exercise a right or raise a concern. You may also complain to the relevant data protection authority, including South Africa’s Information Regulator.

8. Children and policy updates

Our services are directed at business customers, not children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us. We may update this policy as our services change; the date above identifies the latest version.
